NATURE: Ladybugs / Nature / Tree / Leaf Apps

I found a hairy stick yesterday in a stick pile.

It was like a fir tree but with the firs still on it.

Then a ladybug appeared.

I read today, that ladybug's like plants with fur on them.

Fuzzy one's I suppose.

Hairy faces or the likes.

An article online said:
"Strategies that might encourage ladybirds include

-Growing plants that have hairs on their surfaces that offer some protection from predators,
-Plants that 'offer' food such as nectar , or prey (aphids)
For example, aphids are often to be found on roses."
.........
-So hairy surface plants for protection,
-Plant's rich in nectar,
Or
-Prey attracting plants, like roses.
.........
Additionally,
Plants that give visual (or chemical) cues

The Umbellifer* (cow parsley, wild carrots, fennel, white laceflowers), the Daisy and Rose families.

(*Umbrella shaped flowers:

(**Read quote at end of his & this blog)

They seem to be drawn particularly to yellow flowers.

The thing I was building yesterday,
something for St Brigid's Day
I was thinking it was missing something yellow.

Ladybird's are good for ridding your garden of ants & mites & the likes!!
.......
To encourage kids with ladybugs and to explore more, respectfully & in the garden, they can feed them lettuce, honey & raisins.

-Leaf Snap: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=plant.identification.snap

**The quote read:

"Engage with Nature
What is important is that children have the opportunity to bond with the natural world,
to learn to love it,
before being asked to heal its wounds."

(David Sobel)
.....
Very deep!!
